By His wounds we are healed

'' 1 Peter 2 : 22 - 25
''He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.''
When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats.Instead he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.''

''by his wounds you have been healed.''

The wounds of Jesus give us healing.

Now, healing from what kind of sickness?

Is it a healing from cancer, leprosy or psoriasis?

Or
hair fall, obesity or sprain in your limbs?

Did Jesus take all these ailments in His flesh on the cross, and suffered wounds, so that some medicated supernatural ointment is provided for you , in order that you may live long days, happily without any illness?

Shame on us if we think this way!

Lets read the complete verse:

'' 1 Peter 2 : 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness ; by his wounds you have been healed. ''

'' He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree '' = So, His body was wounded because of our ''SINS'' He bore in His body.

And why did He bear our sins in His flesh ? = ''so that we might DIE to sins and LIVE for righteousness.''

Jesus suffered in His flesh because our sin was laid on His flesh.

The wounds of Jesus are to give us healing to our flesh, so that when we sow this Holy SEED of God in us, our flesh will be healed of Sin and we will Die to Sin and Live in righteousness.

Do you read the Scriptures as:

''He himself bore our sickness in His body on the tree, so that we might die to cancer, aids, leprosy, obesity, hair fall and dandruff, headache and stomach ache, and every other ailment and live for good health; by His wounds you have been healed'' ?

We don't read the Scripture this way, right?

That which is consumed away in His wounds on the cross, is not some cancer, or hair fall, or any physical illness my dear people - but it is the Sin of our flesh.

The punishment that our flesh deserves due to its sinful nature, is borne by the Son of God in His body, and now through Him, this sinful nature of our flesh receives its healing from sin, so that we die to sin and live
up to the standards of God. And have His holiness in us.

Healing from the wounds of His flesh flows to heal us from sin of our flesh.

Just take a small analysis:

Observe any two people - one not born again - another born again , baptized spirit filled person.

The flesh of the first always desires the worldly things.
His souls longs for worldly entertainment, his flesh is lustful, his eyes are on perhaps movies, boyfriends or girlfriends, or every possible fun that pertains to the world.
He takes fun in doing crazy things of the world.

On the other hand, observe the moves of a born again, baptized spirit filled person - his soul longs to spend in the presence of God, his heart is filled with fear of God, he likes to keep himself holy, doesn't delight in lust, doesn't watch evil movies or indulge in any unhealthy worldly entertainment - he withdraws himself from evil atmosphere -
How do you think all this is possible for this person?

This is possible because of the healing that is flowing from the wounds of Jesus, that he keeps receiving in his flesh, and due to which the sin in his flesh begins to die, and he begins to live in righteousness, as the ''word'' begins to live in him and work in him.

'' 1 John 3 : 5 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. ''

'' 1 John 3 : 9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him ; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.''

The punishment that you and I ought to suffer due to the sinful nature of our flesh, was paid by Jesus, when He was hung on the tree, and therefore, the moment we sow this imperishable Seed of God, His Word, in our lives, and Jesus begins to live in us, we begin to Die to sin and Live in righteousness.

Jesus becomes the Shepherd and Overseer of our souls.

Earlier we were a sheep going astray - due to the sin in flesh, that came by nature, we didn't know how to keep ourselves holy, how to refrain ourselves from evil, what things we ought to avoid to maintain the standards of holiness, and how to overcome the desires of flesh. And we were slaves to sin.

We were going astray in our ways because sin in our flesh was controlling our moves.

'' 1 Peter 2 : 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.''

When Jesus comes into our lives and becomes the Overseer of our soul, the healing from His wounds flows and heals our flesh of sin. And, as our flesh begins to receive the healing, holiness begins to manifest in our flesh.

And our lives will be controlled by the Spirit of God, and no longer by the flesh.

Due to the first Adam, sin of flesh dominated the spirit of man.

And man lost fellowship with the Spirit of God. Because God cannot coexist with sin.

If our spirits are to be reconciled with God's Spirit, and if God were to live among us again , then the dominion of flesh must be diminished.
The spirit must take predominance over flesh.

And the sin of '' all flesh '' - of all mankind - was laid on the body of Jesus - and His body was thoroughly crushed as a punishment in our place, and was hung on the tree - so that the price was paid for. And through the wounds He suffered in His flesh, we now receive the healing of sin in our flesh.

And this healing is to heal the flesh from lust, from jealousy, from envy, from worldly desires, from sexual immorality, from greed, from idolatry, from gluttony, pride, arrogance, anger, selfishness, malice..... every sin you name under the sun, that originates in flesh, has now received healing from the wounds that Jesus suffered. And we Die to Sin through Jesus.

So, dear God's people, His body was crushed not to provide you some supernatural healing for your physical ailments, but to provide you healing from the sinful nature of your body.

Let us now read from 1 Corinthians to understand some important things on healing - healing of sickness:

'' 1 Corinthians 12 : 27 - 28 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing ... ''

'' 1 Corinthians 12 : 4 -11 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.
Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophesy, to another distinguishing between spirits, and to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit , and he gives them to each one, just as he determines. ''

So:
1. Healing is a gift that comes from the manifestation of the Spirit.

2. People who have these gifts of healing are appointed by God, around the fourth place in the
heirarchy in the church.

3. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

4. It is God who works in all men and he gives them to each one just as he determines.

Holy Spirit is given to us after Jesus ascended to heaven.

'' Hebrews 2 : 3 - 4 This salvation which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will. ''

So:
God, according to His will, distributed the gifts of the Holy Spirit (of which healing is one), only to testify to the Salvation that our Lord brought to us.

There is a vast difference between
''testifying to the salvation'' and ''providing salvation.''

Jesus' suffering and crucifixion is to provide salvation.

And ''healing,'' the gift of the Spirit, is to testify to the salvation.

This gift comes from the Holy Spirit.

And Holy Spirit doesn't come from the wounds of Jesus.

Holy Spirit is another form in Trinity:
Father-Son-Spirit

Can we all now make out how ignorant it is to say that, ''healing for ailments comes from the wounds of Jesus''?

Let us read from 2 Kings 5, about Naaman, who suffered from leprosy, and understand how foolish we appear before God when our approach is not correct and how it only incites God when we come into His Majesty's presence proclaiming Jesus' wounds and suffering are only to give us healing to illness:

Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram.He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy.

Naaman had a servant girl, who advises about the prophet in Samaria who could cure him.

Lets see what Naaman does when he learns about this:

'' 2 Kings 5 : 4 Naaman went to his master and told him what the girl from Israel had said.
''By all means, go, '' the king of Aram replied.
'' I will send a letter to the king of Israel. '' ''

Naaman, in order to receive his healing, now gets a recommendation letter from the king of Aram.

'' 2 Kings 5 : 5 So Naaman left, taking with him ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold and ten sets of clothing.
The letter that he took to the king of Israel read : ' With this letter I am sending my servant Naaman to you so that you may cure him of his leprosy.''

The King of Aram sends recommendation letter to King of Israel, asking him to cure Naaman of leprosy ( !?! )

Not only a recommendation letter, Naaman also carried lot of money, and ten sets of clothing. And then he goes to see the king.

It is Elisha who is the prophet that Naaman is supposed to see.

But observe Naaman's approach - which is basically being influenced by his high position.

And, now , he goes to the king with the letter!

Lets see how the king reacts to this:

'' 2 Kings 5:7 As soon as the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his robes and said, '' Am I God ? Can I kill and bring back to life ? Why does this fellow send someone to me to be cured of his leprosy? See how he is trying to pick up a quarrel with me! '' ''

Naaman now stands before the King of Israel, with a recommendation letter from his king, asking him to cure his leprosy!

And King of Israel only gets violent and tears his robes, thinking King of Aram is trying to pick up a quarrel with him !

Because, by sending to him Naaman with this letter, it looks like King of Aram only wants to incite him, because apparently king of Israel is no god to heal leprosies. And he certainly can't do it.

But for Naaman, he thinks that looking at the recommendation letter that he is carrying from his king, king of Israel will immediately cure him!

Isn't Naaman making a fool of himself?

Now, dear God's people:

If you go before God for your healing, taking the name of King Jesus as a recommendation letter, proclaiming, ''Jesus took my sickness in His body and by His wounds I am healed,'' thinking God will cure you immediately - then are you not being another 'Naaman' ?

Understand carefully what your words mean:

When you say before God, ''Jesus' body was crushed so that I can be in good health - by His wounds I am healed,'' are you not, in a way, saying, that - ''God had to wound His Son so badly and crush Him, so that He would be able to destroy some tiny microscopic organism in my body, which He himself brought forth into existence'' ?

Are you then, not, only inciting God ?

Does God need to crush the body of His only Son, just to destroy a microscopic organism that causes physical ailment?

Are you not making fools of yourselves if you carry this approach before God ?

'' 2 Kings 5 : 8 -9 When Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his robes, he sent him this message:
'' Why have you torn your robes? Have the man come to me and he will know that there is a prophet in Israel. ''
So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and stopped at the door of Elisha's house. ''

When Elisha heard that the king became violent and tore his robes, he sends a word to have the man come and see him.

Now, Naaman did not go plainly when he went to see Elisha - he took with him his horses and chariots. He went with a great pomp!

Lets now read what the man of God did:

'' 2 Kings 5 : 10 Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, '' Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed.''

While Naaman goes to him with all his horses and chariots, Elisha did not even bother to come out and receive him.

As Naaman stopped at the door of Elisha's house, with all his pomp, Elisha only sends out his messenger with his word.

Lets read Naaman's reaction:

'' 2 Kings 11 -14 But Naaman went away angry and said, ''I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy. Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than any of the waters of Israel?
Couldn't I wash in them and be cleansed? '' So he turned and went off in rage.

Naaman's servants went to him and said, ''My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it ? How much more, then, when he tells you, ' Wash and be cleansed' !'' So he went down and dipped himself in the jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy. ''

Naaman thought... Elisha would come out in the honor of his presence....

stand and offer a tribute for his position and all his pomp....

and then call on the name of God....

wave his hand on the spot .. so that looking at his hand the leprosy virus will tremble and shiver, and will die or run away leaving his body! And then he will healed.

Isn't he making a fool of himself in his whole approach?

Isn't this what we too are expecting would happen when we approach God, and make proclamations of sufferings of the Son of God, saying, ''by His wounds I am healed,'' that God will be impressed ''of our Faith'' and come out to us and touch the sickness, and then the sickness virus will tremble and shiver and die or run away from us, and then we will be healed ?

Are we not just making fools of ourselves, and making God only more angry?

Are we not, only rejecting the truth in the sufferings of Christ, before God?

'' Romans 2 : 7 - 11 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew and then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favouritism. ''

Now, Naaman was apparently not happy with Jordan waters.

He disobeyed the word of Elisha, and turned and went off in rage.

Obedience comes from Faith.
Romans 1 : 5 Through him and for his name's sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.

This shows Naaman lacks faith.

And therefore he rejected the instruction given to him.

Now, dear God's people:

When you proclaim and believe that Christ's sufferings are for you to receive just some sound health in your mortal bodies, you are apparently rejecting the truth in His sufferings.
Because the Scriptures quote He bore our sins in his body, not our ailments.

If you are rejecting the truth, then are you not being disobedient?

Disobedience comes due to lack of Faith.

Then how can you proclaim you have Faith to receive your healing?
Are you not just testing God?

All Naaman needed in the whole scenario is just to get the word from Elisha, and then dip in Jordan as Elisha told him. And he would be cured.
It was so simple!

''Wash and be cleansed!''
This was all Naaman did finally, and his flesh was restored and became like a young boy!

It is such a petty matter for God.

'' Luke 17 : 11 - 14
Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus travelled along the border between Samaria and
Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, ''Jesus, Master, have pity on us!''
When he saw them, he said, ''Go show yourselves to the priests.'' And as they went, they were cleansed.''

All these ten men were cleansed of their leprosy, by just doing what Jesus said.

Now, lets hear what the word of God says we should do when we fall sick:

'' James 5 : 14 -18 Is anyone of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was just a man like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain and it did not rain on the land for three and half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. ''

This is all you should do when you fall sick. And you will be healed.

We don't even have to shell out all our money to the prophets. Elisha did not take anything from Naaman. Even when Naaman urged him, he refused:

'' 2 Kings 5: 16 The prophet answered, ''As surely as the Lord lives, whom I serve, I will not accept a thing.'' And even though Naaman urged him, he refused. ''

And when Gehazi tried to take money, the sickness of Naaman came upon Gehazi:

'' 2 Kings 5 : 19 -20 After Naaman had travelled some distance, Gehazi the servant of Elisha the man of God, said to himself ''My master was too easy on Naaman, this Aramean, by not accepting from him what he brought. As surely as the Lord lives, I will run after him and get something from him.'' ''

'' 2 Kings 5 : 26 - 27 But Elisha said to him, ''Was not my spirit with you when the man got down from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to take money, or to accept clothes, olive groves, vineyards, flocks, herds or menservants and maidservants? Naaman's leprosy will cling to you and to your descendants forever.'' Then Gehazi went from Elisha's presence and he was leprous as white as snow. ''

So, don't think God needs you to give out all your money to send you healing.

Neither think that God has taken His Son through the sufferings only to heal our physical ailments.

He suffered because He bore the sin of all the flesh of mankind in His body.

His wounds are to heal us from sin , not from viruses!

You are only making a fool of yourself and only inciting God by rejecting the truth, when you proclaim in the presence of God that Jesus' body was crushed so that you are cured of your head aches and tooth aches.
And that you don't have to live with sickness another day since the Son of God has suffered for you!

Indirectly you are only testing God due to lack of Faith in the truth.

God need not crush the body of His Son, the Majestic King of the Universe, just to remove a tiny microscopic organism from your body!

He who created these viruses, does He have to lay down His own life, in order to remove the same viruses from your bodies?

The devil is only making you incite God when he is imparting such approach in you, and is smartly bringing you under the wrath of God!

'' Luke 5 : 31 - 32 Jesus answered them, ''It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.'' ''

The ''sick'' Jesus is referring here, are those suffering from sin.

All those who have this sickness, are called ''Sinners'' - and they need a Doctor.

And we are those sick.

Jesus came to call these ''sick'' ( called, sinners ) and heal them of their sickness.

'' Luke 15 : 10 I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. ''

The medicine that He provided us on the cross is,
''Repentance.''

But not some ointment to remove tiny organisms from your blood!

Dear God's people, do not give the enemy any further chance to make fools of you before HIS MAJESTY. Do not incite God any further.

Reach out to Jesus to seek forgiveness of your sins, then every ailment will disappear:
''Luke 5 : 17 -20 One day as he was teaching Pharisees and teachers of the Law, who had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem, were sitting there. And the power of the Lord was present for him to heal the sick. Some men came carrying a paralytic on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.

When Jesus saw their faith, he said, ''Friend, your sins are forgiven.''

'' Luke 5 : 24, 25 He said to the paralyzed man, '' I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home. '' Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God. ''

'' Isaiah 53 : 4 - 6 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that bought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. ''

Lets Pray :

Father, Thank You for Your grace. Thank You for revealing us the truth in Your word.
Father, I plead for Your mercy on all Your people, who have been indulging in practices that have been only inciting You.
Forgive us of our ignorance.
I stand in the gap and plead for Your mercy on us all.
Help us to humble ourselves and stand in awe and reverence of You, when we come into Your Presence.
Help us to hold on to the Faith , and be persistent in doing good and seek glory, honor and immortality, so that we may receive eternal life.
Help us not to be self seeking.
Help us to keep Your requirements when we approach Your Throne.
And revere Your Son as our Redeemer, and Saviour of our souls.
Help us not to carry deceptive approaches which only trigger Your wrath on us.
Forgive us and reconcile us back to You.
In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.

'' Romans 8 : 38 -39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future , nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. ''

God Bless You.
