Jesus Speaking To The Fig Tree

'' Mark 11 :12 -14 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry.
Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs.
Then he said to the tree, '' May no one ever eat fruit from you again. ''

'' Mark 11: 20 In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. ''

Dear ones, there is a teaching in the current days about speaking to Money.

Such teachings claim their Biblical base from the above reference where Jesus spoke to the fig tree, and cursed it when it did not yield fruit.
They say that Jesus spoke to the tree to tell us that we too should speak to the things we want.

Dear people, do not let your needs lead you to misinterpret the word of God.

As the Spirit of God helps, let us understand what the Son of God is telling us through this Scripture..

There are certain things we need to notice in this Scripture:

1. Jesus is none but the Living Word.

2. Fig Tree was fruitless as it was out of season.

3. Jesus expected fruit despite it was out of season.

Here, Jesus was hungry and wanted to eat.

When He saw this fig tree, from which He expected fruit, it was empty with no fruit because it was not the season.

Dear ones, if it was just about a tree and its fruit, Jesus knew it was not the season for the fruit to appear on that tree and God Himself had set seasons. So why then Jesus had to curse
it? The tree was right in its place. Right?

This has a more deeper revelation than just a tree bearing fruit and serving for food.

This Scripture conveys us the following:

1. Fig Tree represents the people Jesus calls to serve HIM.

2. Needless to say, Jesus is the Living Word.

3. Hunger of Jesus (requirement of Jesus), represents the Requirement of the Word.

4. Fig Tree not having any fruit when Jesus wanted it, because it wasn't the season, implies those servants who do not produce fruit keeping in with the requirement of the Word, and give away into external unfavourable situations.

5. Jesus cursing the tree, implies that whoever does not function according to the requirement of the Word of God, whether in season or out of season, will be cursed never to bear fruit again.

'' 2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the Word. Be Prepared in season and out of season. ''

Just because circumstances are not bright and are unfavourable, if we fail to keep the requirements of the Word, and manipulate the word of God for personal gains, those kind will be cursed, never to bear fruit again.

Therefore, dear servants of God, preach just the WORD.

Do not add to it calling it knowledge, for such a thing is false doctrine, which is strictly condemned by the Word of God.

'' 1 Timothy 6:20 Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith. ''

'' 1 Timothy 6 : 3, 4 If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited and understands nothing. ''

'' 2 Timothy 2: 4,5 No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs--he wants to please his commanding officer. Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victor's crown unless he competes according to the rules. ''

'' 2 Timothy 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. ''

'' Titus 2: 7, 8 In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. ''

May the Spirit of God grant us understanding of the Word, and help us to keep the requirements of our Lord and Saviour, and hold on to His sound instruction, in season and out of season.

God Bless You.
