When It Hurts

'' Proverbs 24 : 29 Do not say, 'I'll do to him as he has done to me; I'll pay that man back for what he did.' ''

Dear precious people of God, many times we face situations that put us in a critical state.

We encounter people, who are not so pleasing, and we are troubled by their behavior.

It so feels that we can't tolerate, and must give them back according to how we are hurt and how their behaviour deserves.

But dear ones, as children of God, we are expected to persevere but not give back as they have done to us.

It could be by words, by actions, or by attitudes that most of us feel humiliated, or hurt or
frustrated, and it becomes uncomfortable in getting along with that person, and this contagiously effects our other aspects of life.

Let us now, quickly remind ourselves what few great men of God did when they were taken through such phases in life.

When Daniel was put in the lions den, if it were someone else, he would have surely got so emotional about it, for having served the king with utmost loyalty and yet being treated that way!

But what did Daniel do?

He persevered.
Word of God doesn't quote Daniel saying a word negatively over the king for putting him in the den.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, all the three were thrown in the fire. But they have not used their tongue to hurl curses on the king.

We don't read them paying back tit for tat for what was done to them.

Jesus himself was highly humiliated. No one believed who He was except those who were given the grace.

But being the Son of God, still He chose to be silent.
He could have easily slapped them on their faces for not believing who He is.
Isn't it? He is after all the One who created them.

But He did not forget the command Father has given Him.
He chose to persevere in all the sufferings He were to go through.

Dear people, many times people try to
humiliate us, speak words and opinions that hurt us. They act deliberately to create hassles in our ways.

But people, do not be effected by those ill treatments.

Perseverance doesn't mean you get crushed up mentally and lose your identity and your stand. And become shaky in your walk.

Perseverance means, holding on to your confidence in what you believe in, yet remaining silent when people try to persecute you or insult you. And holding on to your stand.

'' Ephesians 6 :10 - 12
Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.''

You should not give yourself to those negative words, wrong opinions and insults, that might pull you down.

But must be strong and withstand, yet do what is right to do, without giving them back in the same manner, and without harming them back for the harm they did to you. And yet proceed on with what you believe in and behave in the way your heavenly Father is pleased.

We serve a Most High God. And we are the chosen ones, redeemed by the blood of God.
We cannot afford to please the world, at the same time please God.

Many of us tend to be sensitive towards the world.
We take every word very seriously, and want to get the approval of one and all and be appreciated for what we do.

But this will not be always the situation in our lives, dear people!

We live in a world with people who have various mindsets, who come from different circumstances and who are going through different ups and downs in their lives,
who have their own challenges that they are struggling with, their own emotional imbalances they are entangled in.

We cannot expect everyone to have a pleasing behaviour that will keep us in harmony with them.

Some people will be so impulsive in their actions.
This doesn't mean we too must give them back how their actions deserve.

We are a people who are led by the Spirit of God.
Nurtured by the Word of the Most High God.

Its our very duty that we must behave in the way that only pleases our heavenly Father.
We must not be of those who please men and desire to be applauded by men for how cleverly we have given back our adversaries for what they have done.

Then we cannot call ourselves to be the children of God, because such behaviour reflects the one who is of the world. And this mannerism is not that our Father expects us to have.

Instead whenever you encounter such people, hold on.
Just don't act instantly basing on the disturbance of your mind, or your negative feelings and frustrations that are rising up inside of you.

Allow God.

Present this matter before God.

Tell Him how troubled you are by the way this person is treating you. And that you want God to deliver you from this situation.

And wait on Him.

Take His answer, listen to what God has to say through His word, and then take the next step.

When you pray, be careful that you don't judge this person before God, but just express your position and what kind of discomfort you are facing.

Because God will not be pleased if we go to Him pointing out others and having a judgmental attitude for our fellow brothers.

'' Proverbs 20:22 Do not say, ''I'll pay you back for this wrong!'' Wait for the Lord and he will deliver you. ''

When we present before God and allow Him to intervene, sometimes, even without we having to do anything, God will convict those who had bothered us, soon after we pray. And these people, will themselves come back to us with an apology. Or, sometimes, God will make them do what we wanted them to do.

And sometimes, God will tell us what must be our course of action during such situations, whether or not we need to explain that person few things that we are troubled of, and thereby God will give us a situation, along with the wisdom we need, and helps us to express to that person in right constructive words. And there by He will deliver us, and save us from falling in sin, which we would have, had we given them back in harsh words.

'' Psalm 73 : 24 - 26 You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you. My flesh and my heart may fail but God is the strength of my heart and my portion for ever. ''

Therefore dear people, always remember to humble yourselves before God and let His power flow into your matters.

Then God's Spirit will do the work for us and make our paths straight and clear.

In this way we would have kept ourselves blameless before God and also have spared the other person's feelings and emotions, which would have been triggered badly, had we spoken out of our frustrations.

'' Proverbs 22:12 The eyes of the Lord keep watch over knowledge, but he frustrates the words of the unfaithful. ''

In Ephesians, word of God tells us that we must wear the complete armor of God:
'' Ephesians 6 :10 - 12
Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.''

Because in order to do what is right to do and please God, our human wisdom defnitely falls short.

We need the help of Jesus, who had overcome the world.

And the flames of the enemy are like blazing torches.
We need all the elements of the protection cover of our Father in order to overcome all the schemes of the evil one.

Even if one of them is missing, our walk becomes crippled.

We cannot just have sword in hand and stand up in the battle field. Or we cannot just have the shield without helmet and sword. Neither can we stand up with just good coverings for our feet and nothing in hand or the shield.

''Ephesians 6:14-18 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist , with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.''

So dear people, let us decide this hour, that we shall not pay back for what people do to us.

But we will hand over all our issues to our King, Jesus of Nazareth!

Let our King resolve our matters for us. For He is faithful and will carry us on His arms, all of our days.

'' Psalm 89 :21-24 My hand will sustain him; surely my arm will strengthen him. No enemy will subject him to tribute; no wicked man will oppress him.

I will crush his foes before him and strike down his adversaries.

My faithful love will be with him and through my name his horn will be exalted. ''

God Bless You.
