Lot and his two daughters left Zoar and settled in the mountains for he was afraid to stay in Zoar.
He and his two daughters lived in a cave.
One day the older daughter said to the younger, '' Our father is old, and there is no man around here to lie with us, as is the custom all over the earth.
Let's get our father drink wine and then lie with him and preserve our family line through our father. ''
Lot's daughters were no prostitutes.
Yet, when the time came for them to take some decisions, they could not think better than sleeping with their own father.
These two girls were decently pledged to men, who were to marry them, while they lived in Sodom.
'' Genesis 19: 14 So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in law, who were pledged to marry his daughters.''
But those men did not seem to have moved out of Sodom along with Lot's family, even after being warned by Lot. And apparently were killed.
'' Genesis 19 :14 He said, ''Hurry and get out of this place, because the Lord is about to destroy the city!'' But his sons-in law thought he was joking. ''
Dear people, as we are meditating on these Scriptures, let us understand how the circumstances that we live in, and the people that we mingle with, and the culture that we see influences our behaviour, even though we may not be actively participating in their practices.
And realize how important it is to live in a healthy atmosphere, amidst right practices, and among right people.
Lot, along with his wife and daughters lived in Sodom, the land renowned for its sin.
Even though they seem to be well behaved, unlike the sinful people of that land, when the time came for his daughters to stand on their own, and take decisions on their own, their minds could not give them a better thought than to sleep with their own father.
They were literally not orphans.
Abraham, Lot's uncle, was still around.
He had his own people and his livestock and was doing very well.
When Lot's daughters felt they wanted to preserve the family line, neither of them could think that they could approach Abraham, and be under his guardianship, and find someone and get married decently. And thereby preserve their family line.
But their thoughts were so bad, that they found no other solution than to sleep with their own father, just to fulfill their desire to preserve their family line.
This kind of thinking is basically because of the atmosphere they had lived in while they were in Sodom.
They had evil company, people they always saw were evil, and all they kept hearing all the while, was immorality.
Therefore, when they had to take a decision on their own, their minds could not grasp good things and could not make out what would be the right thing to do, that would be pleasing to God and approved by men.

Dear God's people, can you now understand how the atmosphere we live in and the people we mingle with, influences our behaviour and our lives ?
These daughters of Lot, even though they haven't been practising sinful activities while they lived in Sodom, in their critical time, perhaps a time of test for their ethics, they could not figure out what should be the right step for them.
They felt that its alright if they lie with their own father, as they have seen and heard of similar acts in the past.
Dear child of God, you may not be involving yourself with the people you live among or may not be practising what they preach and what they believe, but if you keep on hearing their words, and continue being in their company, in your critical time, when you need to take your stand, you are certain to be influenced by the words of those people, and it will not seem wrong to you because you have been hearing such things for a while.

So dear people, if you think your church is not preaching you the WORD the right way, at the moment you may feel you are resistant to the false doctrines.
But don't think these will not leave any influence on you.
These words will certainly try to control your moves at a later stage, and specially in the times, when you have no options or limited options in making some life's decisions.
And that will be the time when you will fall in the trap of the doctrines that you have been constantly hearing.

Don't be negligent if you realize that the people you are speaking with, getting along with, or having fellowship at church, are not the right kind of people that you ought to be with.
Their morale, their beliefs, their way of communication and their interests will certainly influence your thinking and are sure to control your behaviour eventually.
Specially, in times when you have limited resources to hold on to your stand.
So, my dear precious people in God, I urge you in the name of the Lord, cut off every bad friendship.
Avoid every possible communication with them, if you feel their attitudes, their manner of speech, their doctrines, and their lifestyles are not in line with the Word of God.
Put all your efforts to keep yourselves away from them, or else for sure it will dilute your ethical standards that you ought to maintain for God.
We must be only led by the Spirit of God, and set our minds on what the Spirit desires:
''Romans 8 : 5 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.''
